In a heartwarming display of kindness and generosity, purely devoid of any political sentiments, Pastor Eseme Emmanuel Udi, an Esit-Eket-born philanthropist, began the New Year by empowering widows, petty traders, students, and pupils in Esit-Eket Local Government Area.
The colourful event, held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the Akpautong Christian Centre, brought together beneficiaries from across Esit-Eket LGA. Pastor Udi distributed cash empowerment to widows and petty traders, while also donating over 500 exercise books with biros to schools in the area.
In addition, Pastor Udi announced scholarship awards for 10 students in secondary school and 10 pupils in primary school. He also revealed plans to pay bursary for all Esit-Eket students in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
In his speech, Pastor Udi said he was motivated by his personal experience while growing up, having been raised by his widow mother and facing challenges in getting quality education. I have also been inspired by the ARISE AGENDA of His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State. His Compassionate Homes, Free food program for the poor and needy and financial Empowerment for “Home Farm” initiative. It’s quite commendable and inspiring.
Hear him: “I have done fishing, cutting palm fruits, gathering them for sale in local market, I have been a bus conductor in Lagos, just to provide for my widow mother. Therefore as an orphan whom God has blessed, I am determined to make positive difference in the live of others”
Pastor Udi used the opportunity to wish the beneficiaries a happy New Year. He however advised them to manage the small resources well and to put God first in whatever they do as the only key to success is God.
The Chairman of Esit-Eket Local Government Council, Mrs. Uduak Ikemesit Ikot, commended Pastor Udi for his benevolence, praising his commitment to empowering the community. She promised to partner with Pastor Udi to advance education and empowerment initiatives in Esit-Eket LGA.
Stakeholders and community leaders in attendance, including Pastor Godwin Idinyang, Princess Godsown Udoito, and Dr. Henry Martin Abia, lauded Pastor Udi’s philanthropic efforts, urging other elites in the area to emulate his example. They equally advised the beneficiaries to make proper use of the money gifted them by Eseme Udi and his organization.
The beneficiaries, including widows and students, expressed their gratitude to Pastor Udi, promising to make prudent use of the resources provided. One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Hannah Edu, said, “We are grateful to Pastor Udi for his kindness. This empowerment will go a long way in supporting our businesses and improving our livelihoods.”
A widow, Mrs Emem Samuel Akparawa who spoke with Bubbles TV reporter said that the first money he received from Pastor Udi was used to add with the little she had, to pay her daughter’s school fees. She confessed that it is not easy to be a widow, suffering alone to take care of yourself talk less of the kids. “I always look for away to see him just to thank him” she concluded.

The event was a resounding success, with the community coming together to celebrate the spirit of giving and philanthropy. Pastor Udi’s selfless act has set a high standard for others to follow, demonstrating the transformative power of kindness and generosity.

The benefiting schools, which included Community Secondary School Akpautong, QIC Primary School Akpautong, Primary School Udua-Okok, and Primary School, Ineh-Akpautong, were also grateful for the donation of exercise books and biros.

Pastor Udi’s philanthropic gesture is a testament to his commitment to giving back to his community. His selfless act has brought joy and hope to many families in Esit-Eket LGA, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
