The Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Labour Committee, Hon. Nse Essien has advocated for increased revenue for the state and jobs for the people through collaboration with IOCs operating with the state.

The former lawmaker made this known when he received in his office the 4 LGA chairmen and Joint labour committee members from Eket Federal Constituency on Wednesday.

He stressed that the job description of his committee by the State Governor doesn’t include interfering with the established duties of the Labour Committee in the Federal Constituency, but to assist and complement the committee to do even more by getting quality and more improved jobs for the people and in return boost revenue accrued to the state.

Essien decried the marginalisation of the state and the oil bearing communities by multi nationals, assuring that with the necessary collaboration, it will be a thing of the past.

 

Speaking in the same vein, Hon. Udo Keiran, a member of the State Labour Committee urged members of the Eket Federal Constituency JLC to ignore any form of misconception against the newly inaugurated committee by uninformed members of the public and the IOCs.

Another member of the committee, Hon. Sunday Isokobo harped on the need for proper information and at the right time.
He appealed to the Eket Federal Constituency Labour Committee to see the newly inaugurated state committee as partners in this Business and partners in progress for effective and timely result.

 

The Chairman, Eket Federal Constituency Labour Committee, Mr Godwin Ekefre Ndueso on his part said that he reacted to the allegation against the newly created Akwa Ibom State Labour and Industrial Relations Committee based on the unverifiable information received from officials of Seplat and text messages from other IOCs which alleged Akwa Ibom Labour Committee’s chairman interference on their duties.
Ndueso and his team promised to work with the Hon. Nse Essien-led team to actualise the mandate of the Governor.

The meeting had in attendance Hon. Akan Tommey, Eket LGA Chairman, Hon. Kufre Umoren, ONNA LGA Chairman, Hon. Glory Ekah, Ibeno LGA Chairman, Hon. Ikemesit Ikot, Esit Eket LGA Chairman, a former lawmaker in the House of Reps, Barr. Bassey Dan Abia, as well as the four LGA Labour Committee Chairmen and their Secretaries.
